The Seance by Scottish playwright Anthony Neilson is a one-act play from the National Theatre’s Connections collection.
At the end of the summer holidays, and in the hopes of communicating with the spirit of their dead friend, seven teenagers get together to hold a séance, complete with Quija boards, scented candles, and crystal glasses.
The play is full of ordinary, subtle dialogue that reveals tensions, relationships, dreams and possibilities.
